August 28, 2014 TON program: Transformation

September 1, 2014

Denmark’s only cross-industry and cross-funtion private peer-learning network met last week to discuss transformation in the context of outsourcing and offshoring.

The program’s topic was “Transformation.”
  • Morten Wagner, Group VP-Head of IT Sourcing, ISS, contributed with a bit of insight as to how ISS tackles IT and sourcing all while digesting the hundreds of acquisitions that ISS has made as it has doubled in size over the past 8 years.

  • Lars Nordestgaard Nielsen, Nordic BPO Director, presented the rationale and details of the largest F&A outsourcing deal in our market. Among the issues discussed were ISS’ critical decisions regarding: Outsourcing or shared services center; Nearshore or offshore; and Fix & Ship vs. Ship & Fix.

  • Lydia Bals, Professor of Supply Chain and Operations, University of Applied Sciences Mainz, gave a presentation on provider performance. Critical to Bayer Crop Science (the case under discussion and Lydia’s former job) was tackling processes in order to achieve both tactical optimization as well as strategic procurement empowerment.

  • Torben Koue, Sylvia Maria Rothschild and Lykke Vedsted from Running With No Legs, along with Jesper Poulsen-Hansen of Gemeinschaft, brought our network through a session on resilience. The focus of the session was on using opposition to develop flexibility while also learning from mistakes to change behavior and move on. Some of the points raised by our small group discussions were that growth isn’t possible without friction; and that the economic crisis has forced many organizations to develop their own organizational resilience in order to be able to survive and thrive.
