Measuring value in outsourcing relationships

Outsourcing can be of enormous value to organizations. Yet few are able to understand let alone explain this value. Companies are used to measuring value based on price and contractual obligations alone but there is more to understanding value than merely taking delivery within budgetary targets. We will work from cases to identify success criteria which transcend costs savings and typical quantitative KPIs. Building outsourcing strategies

Our research clearly shows that companies which have an outsourcing strategy in place tend to be better positioned to secure value via outsourcing. Using cases and working with small groups, we will build an outsourcing strategy which will include “must-win battles” and critical success factors. These battles and success factors will be contextually-appropriate and measurable. This will strengthen the organization’s ability to evaluate and when necessary, take corrective action down the road. With our focus firmly on the overall business strategy of the organization, we will come up with an appropriate outsourcing strategy for the case under discussion. We will also learn how to incorporate differing organizational perspectives e.g. interest groups and stakeholders into our strategy formulation.

Participants will be able to understand how an organization can go about building appropriate outsourcing strategies which are explicitly integrated with the business strategy. This means appropriately managing risks and directly supporting business goals.
